After becoming a permanent resident (P.R) or citizen of Canada, and fulfilling some other sponsorship requirements, a Canadian permanent resident, citizen, or registered Indian can go ahead to sponsor certain members of their families to become permanent residents themselves! Isn't that just great?
Family sponsorship is one of the many paths to Canadian permanent residency, and is highly recommended for both qualifying sponsors and the sponsored. The list of those who can be sponsored by a Canadian PR, citizen, or registered Indian is provided below, refugee (family) sponsorship is discussed on a different page:
1. Sponsor's dependent child.
2. Sponsor's spouse
3. Sponsor's common-law or conjugal partner
4. Sponsor's parents and/or grandparents.
As mentioned above, there are certain conditions a sponsor must fulfill, a non-exhaustive list of those include:
1. Sponsor must be at least 18 years old.
2. Sponsor must be a Canadian P.R, citizen, or registered Indian.
3. Sponsor must prove that they do not receive social assistance, save for disability.
4. Sponsor must promise their willingness to financially take care of the sponsored (exceptions exist for this).
There are other conditions and nuances to family sponsorship, and Pilot Immigration Consulting has considerable experience with facilitating successful sponsorship applications. if you think you want to explore this as an option, please don't hesitate to contact us today. We will be very glad to assess your file and see if this can be a path to Canadian permanent residency for your loved one(s)!
