If you are a permanent resident and you want to become a Canadian citizen, depending on your age, there are  a number of requirements to fulfill, including being resident in Canada for a number of days (there are different ways to fulfill this requirement) out of the 5 year tenure of one permanent residency term, demonstrate ability to speak one or both of Canada's official languages, not have any criminal history, and others.
